FLOSS 2: THE FLOSSER BECOMES THE FLOSSEE (april 25th)

just in case anyone is watching! i like to publicize these things pretty early, so here's the thread for it.

the Kelowna guys are converging on Vancouver for SFA aplenty. i have no idea what format of tourney this will be but rest assured it will be pretty huge; it is the Gathering after all and that means everyone is here!

will put videos and whatnot in here obviously. i have no idea if anyone in Kelowna is even reading this (probably not) but you can and should tell me what you all want format-wise if you're going to be playing.

Well, for the singles, I figure we go either single or double elimination. If there are twelve of us, there may be some byes. Seeding FFAs still good? For the FFAs, three round robin matches, top eight advance to a stepladder bracket. Doubles partners determined through seeding.

do you mind if i post the planned format you had? i think it's great, it combines every gamemode and allows for odd numbers of people and whatnot, and it'd be cool to have it here for future access as well

Sure. Since there is a 'twist' in one of the rounds. It will be STG, Haxage and I's secret. We wont have the 'power' in that round.

The "power" is the stealth suit or special items altogether im assuming...

haha, i think the twist was that the opponents picked in the round of 12 will have to work with their teammates first, and we won't be getting the power to pick our opponents (which is fine, since only half the players will be picking anyway).

... oh yeah, vids will go up when i have the time... despite all my best efforts they got organized pretty embarrassingly awfully and it'll take me a while to sort 'em out.

I don't even remember any matches from the tournament except when I beat someone (Yosh I think) on simp 1 in a tiebreaker and I flipped shit.

i'm finally stitching these together and it is a right pain in the rear to determine who is who in each game. there are 4p games all over the place and i can't remember for the life of me who was on whose team lol

Although I have been consistently impressed by STG and Cac's plays in some of the older games...

Something to watch

I been so bored since I got back cause I can't play Melee or Mario Party or SSX with my sister cause her boyfriend decided to slide into me. Great idea! Oh well.

PSA: I just noticed that the first two videos have been uploaded.

Indeed they are! Just watched the first a couple times, and MVP of the match goes to...

Akp! No surprise there. You utilised the map's corners fantastically and your timings and accuracy were pinpoint.

Your teammate Rambler also did a nice job keeping the map consistently in the control of your team, and it showed - but one small criticism of mine was the point where he dropped multiple mines down one after the other. I was saddened by this decision because the invulnerability after the first is procced will mean the others in the queue do nothing. Spacing them out would have been a more sensible idea.

The enemy team, BerryO and Yoshifuzz, were on the back foot from the start because of a slip-up by BerryO. If this had not happened the match would have been more even, as despite getting a barrier nice and early it wastes valuable time, in which Yoshifuzz was killed.

But their play was by no means bad. Some well-timed barriers and RCBs made it almost look like if they'd had more time they could have made up for their early-game mistakes but alas, the control from the enemy was too good and Akp's play too damn flawless.

Game 2 (or match 0029) was a pretty big stomp. MVP goes to Cac for 4 jaw-dropping kills with the missiles and sniper, and to be frank I couldn't take my eyes off him for almost the entire game to see if he'd make another insane play. The other players were definitely good but Cac seemed to be a whole level higher there. Seemed a bit unfair, really.

(PS. I know it looks like bumlicking but I just wanna be able to congratulate the players as I can't do so in person)

i need to find out what i should tag some of the players as in the next match as some borrowed tags are being thrown around, lol. it's a pretty silly match anyway so don't wait on tenterhooks for it or anything; just wanted to let everyone know about the source of the delay.
